Surgical Assistants
Shaneka Boomer - Dental Surgical Assistant
Shaneka Boomer is your Registered Dental Surgical Assistant. Shaneka is primarily responsible for anything implant related where she has vast knowledge. Shaneka is experienced with printing surgical implant guides for guided implant procedures, and treatment planning implant cases. Shaneka attended Fortis College where she received her Dental Assistant in 2008. Shaneka joined DC Perio team in 2017 and brings her outgoing and friendly personality to our office. Shaneka was born and and raised in Washington DC. Outside of the office Shaneka enjoys spending time with her fiancé and two children, shopping, and traveling. Shaneka’s objective as a Surgical Assistant is educating and helping patients overcome their dental fears. Its is with pleasure to introduce Shaneka Boomer, DC Perio’s Dental Surgical Assistant.
Juanita Baldwin - Dental Surgical Assistant
Juanita Baldwin is a Registered Dental Surgical Assistant who has been in the dental field for nearly 12 years. Juanita graduated from Richard Montgomery High School, attended college at Montgomery College and later attended and graduated from ACT College with her dental assisting degree. Juanita takes pride in her profession as she loves what she does. Juanita is known for having a charismatic, and outgoing spirit and is especially detailed oriented when it comes to patient care. Juanita was born and raised in Rockville, Maryland. Juanita has five children in which she enjoys spending quality time with and traveling. Juanita also enjoys history, nature, and exploring new things. Juanita’s objective as an assistant is consistency, effective communication, and helping patients when it comes to systemic dental health. It is our pleasure to introduce Juanita Baldwin our dedicated Surgical Assistant.
Shameka McAddley - Sterilization Technician
Shameka McAddley is our Sterilization Technician, she has been in the dental field since 2020. Shameka graduated from Montgomery College with an Associates in General Studies and currently holds her license as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Shameka takes pride in her profession and is currently in school to become an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant. Shameka is known for her attention to details. Shameka was born and raised in Rockville, Maryland. Shameka has two children in which she enjoys spending quality time with. Shameka’s objective as an Sterilization Technician is very important to the functionality of our office in which she makes sure all instruments are sterilized and cleaned properly by following all Infection Control and Osha guidelines. It is our pleasure to introduce Shameka McAddley our dedicated Sterilization Technician.

Maria Tarrance-Watkins - Administrator/Professional Relationship Director (PRD)
Maria Tarrance- Watkins is your connection to our office. Having served as DC Perio’s Practice Administrator/Professional Relationship Director (PRD) since August of 2009, Maria has proven herself to be versatile and motivated in fulfilling her role as an easily accessible resource for our referring partners. Maria focuses on what each referring doctor needs to optimize their partnership with our office. She believes that the best relationships are built on accessibility and clear communication. Her friendly demeanor and positive attitude have helped to strengthen our practice’s current partnerships while also building new ones. Maria Tarrance-Watkins was born and raised in Washington, DC and received her training in Dental Assistant at Applied Career Training College (ACT) where she graduated in 1998. Maria obtained her bachelor’s degree from the Southeastern University in Criminal Justice, and then her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health and Rehabilitation Counseling from University of the District of Columbia. Maria finds great pleasure in spending time with her husband and three daughters. She enjoys traveling with her family and hosting events. Maria also enjoys doing community outreach and educating patients from a holistic/integrated approach. She has participated in dental missions locally as well as served as a youth advocate with DC Superior Court. She takes pride in the services that she is able to provide in interning to support the needs of the Mental Health and Disability population. Maria believes her purpose in life is to be in the helping field. Ashley Lucas - Administrative Team Leader/Treatment Coordinator
Ashley Lucas is your Administrative Team Leader/Treatment Coordinator. Ashley is primarily responsible for the new and existing patient’s clinical experience and maintaining alignment between the patients’ understanding of their treatment plan and the services delivered to them at each appointment. She builds trust with the patient and act as a liaison between the doctor and the patient when it comes to treatment options, understanding, and discussions. Ashley has been with DC Perio since 2019 and brings a friendly, outgoing, and bubbly personality to our office. Ashley has ten years of dental experience that includes both front and back experience. Ashley is dedicated to her role and her objective is to create a meaningful first impression and communicate the value of dental care. Ashley was born in Guam and moved around a lot due to her being in a Military family. After years in the Military her family found their home in Maryland where she has lived for many years. She received her training in Dental Assisting at the College of Southern Maryland. Away from the office Ashley is a wife and mother of two kids and enjoys spending time with her family and traveling. She also enjoys cooking, singing, watching horror movies, and shopping. DC Perio presents to you Ashley, who is here to ensure seamless delivery of the patient experience.
Mildred Jennings - Patient Engagement/Hygiene Scheduling Coordinator
Mildred Jennings is Patient Engagement/Hygiene Scheduling Coordinator. Mildred has been with the office since 1981 when it was the Office of Dr. Stein and continued her tenure with DC Perio since 2008. Mildred is known by most of the patients as being calm, soothing, and compassionate. She has fostered relationships with many of DC Perio’s patient for as long as 40 years Mildred has over 50 years in the dental field and brings a wide range of expertise with her focus on building trust and relationships. Mildred is reliable, consistent and effective in her role. Greeting patients with value, thanking them for coming to our practice, and acknowledging the referrer is what she is committed to doing each day. Mildred was born in Sharon Pennsylvania and moved to the DMV. It is in the DMV where she meet her husband whom she has been married to since 1982. Outside of DC Perio, Mildred enjoys reading, crocheting, and spending time with her husband. DC Perio has the pleasure of introducing you to Mildred who is devoted and dedicated to the mission of the office and ensuring customer service is provided in the best interest of the patients.
Freda Nelson - Administrative Team Leader/Treatment plan coordinator
Freda Nelson is our Administrative Team Leader/Treatment plan coordinator. Freda has more than 20 years of experience in the dental field as a Certified Dental Assistant,Administrative Team leader and Dental Assistant Instructor. Freda‘s goal is to educate and inform patients with clear and concise treatment plan presentation and assist with financing for their dental needs. Her greatest pride is to make sure that you have a great experience at DC Perio & Implants.
Hygienist
Marlene M. Roberts - Hygienist
Marlene is a clinical dental hygienist with more than 30+ years of experience in prosthodontics and periodontology. Marlene’s education began with a BSDH degree from the Fones’ School of Dental Hygiene at the University of Bridgeport, an MS degree in Health Care Administration at the University of Maryland and most recently a DrPH degree from Walden University. Marlene is passionate about public oral health and has been involved in community service oral health programs locally and abroad. Marlene firmly believes that oral health is an important and essential part of overall health and should be treated as such.
